Everything about Martin and Elise’s wedding was out of the ordinary in the best way. They took tradition and gave it a little twist and their celebration was all the more special because of it. Elise was glowing when I saw her in the bridal suite. In fact, she always is! She brings the light around with her just like sunshine. Instead of the usual bustling energy of a bridal suite, she traded it for quiet time with her family in the suite at the Cosmos Club. Elise and her father did a run through of a song they’d perform together later and slowly, her girls trickled in. Elise slipped on her dress and there were tears in everyone’s eyes. She is so deeply treasured by her friends and family, they were beside themselves with joy. Each of the women who are so special to her got a moment to hug her tight before it was time to see her groom! Martin was just one floor below, hanging out with his favorite people and just waiting for ceremony time. Both Martin and Elise were so calm, so content – there was a peace like any other I’ve experienced, because they were ready to marry each other.

Their ceremony was another twist on the traditional. Martin’s college roommate and long time friend officiated and even delved into their relationship so he could be confident in the choice they were making. He spoke so highly of Martin and Elise and the way that they care for each other and the people around them. The emotion in the room swelled as their mommas’ handed them the rings and then it was official. Martin and Elise were just as they were always meant to be – married. They sealed it with a kiss as the window light surrounded them in an almost halo. Their guests rose out of their chairs and applauded as they walked down the aisle hand in hand. The evening was full of perfect glowy light, reunions of jazz music and drinks, and so many sweet words. The reception room opened up to Martin and Elise sharing their first dance in an empty room, beckoning their friends to join them on the dance floor. Elise sang with her father in lieu of a traditional dance and the dance floor was full all night long.

Martin and Elise are incredibly kind and generous people. You could tell from the way their friends and family gathered around them that they are well loved. And that they love people really well. They floated throughout the Cosmos Club all evening with giant smiles on their faces, embracing everyone they passed. Every person they chatted with was immediately infected with their same joy, their same energy. Martin is ever the gentleman and is so entranced by Elise. And she’s equally lit up by him. If she’s like sunshine on her own, then her time with him brings out the very best of that. Sunshine on a cloudless day, warm to the touch, and so infectious to be around. That’s Martin and Elise. And I couldn’t think of two sweeter people. If we could do this day over and over again, we would!
